Ciao! My name is Theodore Keloglou. I work on pod network, a high-performance blockchain built for (a) global, (b) fast, (c) fair markets.

pod network

Most transactions across global markets are unfair. If our server is farther from the exchange, then our order arrives later, then we get a worse price -- just because of where our trading platform’s server is located.

1/ This can't be avoided. It’s baked into the design of global financial infrastructure.

2/ Blockchains were supposed to be the substrate of fair markets. Instead, they introduced new dimensions of asymetries.

We introduce pod: an L1 with a fully on-chain order book, using frequent batch auctions. No front-running, last-looks, or MEV by design.

The high-frequency trading arms race is a symptom of flawed market design. Instead of the continuous limit order book market design that is currently predominant, we argue that financial exchanges should use frequent batch auctions: uniform price double auctions conducted, for example, every tenth of a second.

Shoshin College is an independent, open school. We organise in-person classes on topics we find enticing, in London, England. Shoshin is the beginner's mind.

In the beginner’s mind there is no thought, “I have attained something.” All self-centered thoughts limit our vast mind. When we have no thought of achievement, no thought of self, we are true beginners. Then we can really learn something.

London College of Political Technology, Newspeak House is an independent residential college founded in 2015 in which I contribute as faculty member. We have a course on political technology and I have a list of topics as course activites.

research

Topics of interest. I aim to learn more about these:

[ Protocols ] Reliability and speed are two of the most important aspects of software. Decentralisation can enable both, as long as we figure out the right way to coordinate everything together.

[ Distributed Governance ] Figuring out how kinds of communities can work well feels paramount to everything humans do. I am seeking experiential answers by participating in communities of many different kinds and theoretical answers by studying sociopolitical science, history, philosophy, religion. In 2024, I delivered three lectures on theories of democracy at Shoshin College.

[ Knowledge Infrastructure ] There is a feeling in the world that much of the effort exploring new knowledge is spent unwisely. I’m certain we can do better. Knowledge discovery is about communication: unless we can effectively propagate new knowledge we discovered to the world, it will inevitably be lost and re-discovered.

[ Psychoanalysis ] Sigmund Freud discovered a way to view the human psyche (a theory) which, when read through Slavoj Žižek’s work, appears to explain much more of the whole world.

I like speaking with new people and listening to their challenges and things they are exploring. Hit me up.
